Colored Pencils...Really cool tool when you know how to use them!

I had the opportunity to spend a day with Karen Lockhart, the owner of Lockhart Stamp Company. http://www.lockhartstampcompany.com/ Karen is an AMAZING colored pencil artist. Her classes took my coloring to a whole new level, one I wouldn't have thought possible. Check out these class project cards, Lockhart stamps colored with colored pencils! Too cool.

Her stamps are simple line images that really allow for interpretation with color. It was neat to see how each student's project differed even though we all were working on the same image. I had an awesome day, learned SO much and realized again that I am simply the most fortunate person on the planet.

Expect to use colored pencils more frequently in my upcoming classes! HINT: Click on any of the photos for an up close view.

It did, life got even better!

At the end of the month I am off to Charleston, South Carolina for a few days...to become certified with Copic Markers! These are just the best coloring tools available. I took a short class in August and was amazed at all I could make my markers do so I am REALLY looking forward to the intensive session in Charleston. It helps that Charleston is my favorite city and has the best Shrimp and Grits on the planet! :->

I'll be teaching several classes this fall through Portsmouth Adult Education in the evenings at the Middle School. In October I'll be teaching at Wholly Scrap in North Hampton. I owe ya'll some updated photos of all the fun I've been creating, I'll try to get Tom to do it this week.

Can my life get ANY better??

I was accepted as a Tattered Angels educator and my fist box of loot JUST arrived. WhoooHooo! I have loved their Glimmer Mists since I first saw them in Chicago in 2007...I've used it on everthing....including Amos once by accident. If you haven't used it, why not? It is fabulous. I'll have a couple of calsses in September dedicated to Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and their companion products. What are you waiting for?

YIPPIE...HOORAY... The new studio is finished!

Over the past couple of weeks Tom has been creating new studio space for me and I've finally moved in and put my...TONS...of craft supplies away. How can I have SO MUCH STUFF? I must have purchased most things while having an out of body experience... He still needs to put up the door and window trim but I simply could not wait another minute to move in and get to playing.

There is great lighting, class space with comfortable seating for 8 and dedicated retail space for a bit of after class shopping therapy. I am in Heaven. Right now I am sharing my studio space with two foster kittens from SAFER so if you can see the cat toys and babies....they are temporary. Know anyone looking for a very sweet girl or boy? BillieJo and Bobby Joe and absolute loves, but they need to find their forever homes.
