Silkscreen and dyeing fabric, ME????

I had simply THE BEST TIME EVER in Rhode Island last weekend with my Artgirlz (including the REAL and WORLD FAMOUS Artgirlz Tracy, Linda and Alison).

We dyed fabric, learned to silkscreen, carved our own rubber stamps from our own hand drawn designs!! And then we sewed. Okay, I didn't think I was much of a sewer, but....WHO KNEW? Look at that face, I painted it on then stitched it using some crazy free motion foot thingy. Wowzers. I am so proud of myself I can barely stand it.

close up of the face ...just look at that stitching!

The front of the finished pillow

Back of the pillow with my very OWN rubber stamped image and an image transfer of a very cute pug. Tracy had the hysterical poodle fabric, perfect!

I'm bbbaaaccckkk......

Okay, I have not vaporized, or moved to the dark side, or become mute. I've just been distracted.

I am back in the saddle, hoeing out my studio, and planning for great new adventures in art.

First up...an Etsy shop.
What's that?
Yup, Etsy.
As in.. stuff out there in public, swinging in the breeze for all to see.
I'd love for you to take a peek. My store is WickedYup10.
(Who do you suppose the other 9 WickedYup's are anywho?)

That's it for now. Have a couple other suprises up my sleeve, stay tuned.

Saint Sebastian

This is Michael deMeng's interpretation of Saint Sebastian. Cool, creepy, thought provoking, YUM! Michael is a genius in the world of Assemblage....assembling art from found objects. The body for St Sabby is a rubber acupuncture model, then he has arrows, screws, light bulbs and all kinds of fun stuff added. Check out the cat claws above his bight bulb eyes! He is half mummified and washed all over with acrylic washes to "grunge" him up. Ahhhhh, it is truly an honor to be living with this amazing art in my home. Check out Michael's other works at http://www.michaeldemeng.com/

Fake Nose and Glasses??

Someone recently turned 50. When I first met him he wore big tortiseshell glasses and a mustache. Since his birthday is October 31st I thought this was a fitting reminder of how fare he'd come! Yes, the pumpkin is wearing jazz shoes.

For the past three Thursday evenings, I had the opportunity to teach one of my favorite classes, Multi-Media Art Collage, at Portsmouth Adult Education.

Each artist created a collage that represents their interests, thoughts, or loves. We had a BLAST! The results are VERY impressive, check 'em out!

The Creation of an Icon

I have finally had the chance to upload some pictures from the Art is You Retreat, only to find out that I didn't take as many as I thought I did, and the ones I was hoping to see came out all fuzzy!!

Well anyways, here we are now, and I am happy to share the pictures I do have! While on my art journey in CT, I took an AMAZING class with Janette Schuster. We learned how to transfer images on to metal... SO COOL!!! This is a sneak peak of what it looks like when I really get into my artwork!!

Enjoy!

Look at this little lovely. This is what happens when one spends the day with Suze Wineberg and her pots of hot UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel). We had a ball and WAY WAY too many laughs!

WOW! What a Weekend!

We have arrived back from an AMAZING "Art is YOU" weekend in Connecticut! Pictures and postings to come soon, so check back in the next day or so.
